In one of the early explorations of digital craft and fabrication, Small Batch Liquors attempts to purposely juxtapose traditional architectural interior elements against an organic flow of foreign materials.  Set within a historic early 20th century bungalow house, the wine rack of this liquor store draws inspiration from the flowing rivers and resultant caverns of the surrounding Colorado landscape.  Using the latest modeling software, the design team was able to modify the interior forms throughout the iterative design process to better communicate the finished vision to the client.  Sealed  Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) was used for it's durability and scaleless finished texture.  The construction process involved custom carving each panel using a CNC router, then notching them together, much like a three-dimensional puzzle.  Eloquently blending form and function, the shelving becomes an interactive retail installation.
