Client: Glazed and Confuzed Donuts
Budget: under $150,000 USD.
For Glazed and Confuzed's first brick and mortar location, the design team wanted to create a signature look that captured the essence of the culinary delights that chef Josh Schwab was infamous for. A self proclaimed "Mad Scientist" in the kitchen, Schwab's donuts are each uniquely creative and bring gourmet cooking to the often elementary donut. The interior layout includes both private booth seating and diner counter options, in order to cater to groups and individuals alike. Perhaps the most notable design element was the ceiling. Covered in 1/4" aluminum panels with thousands of water-jet perforations, the ceiling takes its inspiration from the aeration pockets seen when biting into one of Schwab's confectioneries. Scattered throughout the ceiling are CNC lathed aluminum "drips" which create a visually melting glazed ceiling above.
